I did a reboot as my system kept crashing and wiped all my personal documents and programs using pre installed reboot software. I have done this many times in the last 3 years of having this p.c without problems but this time When I did this It came up with a lot of errors during reboot but installed windows succesfully but when I started the computer up all the preinstalled software was gone! Well it is still there in a matter of speaking because when I try to download itunes or quick time it says it cant remove the old one. I also know the software is still in the partition because if I do a safe reboot where I just reboot back to factory shipped settings keeping my documents and so on they are all there but when I do that I cant use the internet as it will only load the homepage and cant even use the http bar. windows installer also goes on the blink I'ts really strange and I think its down to a faulty hdd or the partition has become corrupted in some way. The computer works fine after a full reboot but cant see or access the pre installed software. As the software is still there I can only assume that the hdd is not faulty just corrupted. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction to repair the partition.
Thankyou for time and any help given.

Firstly, thankyou Caliban for your response and apologies for not using the correct descriptions.
    Microsoft windows xp
    media centre edition
    version 2002/ service pack 2

I used pc angel which is pre installed and has 3 options in the software
    1. format user partition deleting all personal files and software and reinstalling all factory shipped software on the partition.

2.Non destructive- keep all of the user partition(documents and personal files and software) and reinstalling all factory shipped software

    3 installing new operating systems

    hope this helps

    Thanks

    Dave:)
