after vista no dvd burner

after loading vista on mu computer I realized my burning software no longer worked now I have found out that my burner drive doesnt exist anymore could someone tell me what needs to be done to fix this ? just about had enough of vista !!!

 

after some digging I found where to update drivers and it says I am already using the most recent one and then there is an error message that says "windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware .the driver may be corrupt or missing ( code 39 ) has anyone seen this on there computer ?

 

I've seen the error on other PC's from time to time. Did you do a clean install of Vista; formatted the hard drive, etc? Or did you use the Vista Upgrade? If you upgraded, something is obviously not Vista compatible. Contact whoever the publisher of your burning software is and see if they have a patch or a Vista update. Removing the burning software and removing the DVD from the device manager and rebooting might work. When you reboot after uninstalling the DVD from the device manager, Vista will 'see' the drive as a new device, and will (hopefully) install the drivers for it.

This is something you did, not Vista. Its important you read the compatibility report before upgrading.

 

thank you for the help followed instructions and everything seem fine now. dont know what I could have done the new computer was vista ready and I run the vista upgrade advisor but anyway thanks

 

Incompatible software. Visty Ready only applies to the hardware in the machine, not the software on it.
