After Win 7 install

I have a Sony laptop, model VGN-SZ430N. I downloaded Windows 7. When I start my machine up, it starts up with a dark monitor. I can see shadows of the screen in the background. The only way to get the screen to light up is to close the cover, put it to sleep and them open the cover and wake it up. The screen comes to light and all is OK. I was just wondering if there was a solution. Win 7 was purchased through a community college offer and downloaded from a website. Thank you.

Please download and install Everest, a free system information tool.

Run Everest and click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next - Choose System Summary Only > Next - Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate.
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) - click Save (n.b. Save to desktop, use Browse to locate desktop).
