After XP SP2, IE and Windows Explorer won't Start.

    I removed a bunch of spyware/malware with Hijack this. Then installed P2 for windows XP home edition. Now I can't get IE, explorer, control panel or other related apps to start. I get an hourglass briefly and then nothing.

    I reran Hijackthis and the log looks clean to me, but I can post it if it would help?

    Ideas?

    just a quick question did you first ran adware and spybot and other cleaners before you used hijackthis. if not maybe you deleted something that was needed.

    also did ie and windows explorer work after used hjt [before you install sp2 ]
