    i have a 2200 tbred chip how do i tell if i can use a pencil or do i hve to use thermal grease, how do i determine the difference

    Right. You must be talking about week 39 (2003).

    Tell us the OPN on the chip, should indicate what version of the core it is and whether it can be unlocked. I doubt you will be able to use pencil as that kinda dissapeared with the original Athlons.

    Heres a guide on Unlocking older Athlons but it might not be any use to you.
