Age of Mythology question

    No offense intended, but I really couldn't care less about video games. The reason I like Age of Empires is for the built in historical encyclopedia.

    A lot of mythology is based on history, but exaggerated. For example, Gilgamesh was a real King, and some of what was described in his Epic has been dug up.

    I'd like to read about this stuff in Microsoft's Age of Mythology, but it requires 8 Mb of video RAM. So does Age of Empires 3. But my IBM ThinkPad 600X has only 4 Mb, The 240 only 2 Mb, and my only desktop is older than some of you.:cool

    So can I install these games, and just read the articles (the only part I care about) or do they also require too much video RAM?

    Hi

    You will have to check on the games webpage for the minimum specifications to install the game as even if you dont wish to play the game, it will still need specific hardware to allow the game to install (some check hardware out before installing and if you dont meet the min criteria it will not install) or run.

    Age of Empires III needs
    so may not install or load correctly, but try the demo out and see if it installs ok first before buying it.

    I highly doubt if the game will fire up once installed, the best advice I can give you is to forget the game and just search the contents of the game you wish to read about on Google.

    Or you could buy an external video card or new PC..... Google will be cheaper lol

    Having said that, it is possible the game will fire and you will be able to access the info you want, but IF it does it may be extremely slow and unstable.
