Hi there all, hows everything? Good I hope.

I need a little help with answers to this question about AGP Cards.

I have a Sapphire Radeon 256Mb and from time to time, it won't boot up my monitor. I have adjusted all of the necessary requirements in BIOS to get the motherboard to boot from AGP but it happens to play from time to time. Is there a way that I can just get my PC to boot the AGP or is there anything that I need to do? I am just hoping that it's not a hardware problem as I have only had this new card for a month. Could it be some kind of software incompatibilty or is it just being stubborn?

    Any help would be great.

When we have problems we all hope it's software issue cuz hardware is always more expensive. Unfortunately I can think of psu inefficiency or (if you're lucky ;)) damaged drivers. Try updating the driver and see if it helps.
What do you mean from time to time? Can you post the rest of the specs?

Some more specs on your system would be helpful. Here are a few AGP related things I have run into:

-No doubt you have already thought of this, but this was an experience I had:

Have you tried removing the card, cleaning the contacts and the AGP slot, and re-installing it?

A friend of mine once had a problem like this - it was an older, PIII system though. His system had onboard video, and he bought the AGP card as an upgrade. His system was pretty well used by that time, and I determined his AGP slot had some dust in it that was causing intermittent video problems - at least when I cleaned both the card and the slot his problems vanished.

-Another thought is to make sure your motherboard drivers are current, especially the chip-set (GART) drivers, etc. Sometimes a bad or out-dated driver can wreak havoc with newer componants.

    Good luck!

Also, there is more than one AGP system out there, and they are incompatible (of course). There is a simple method of telling them apart (it has to do with voltage, but the card edge is different), but I don't know what it is.
