ahh i think i got the curse of the red sox

Hey guys just as things were great, another computer, and another problem.Hope you guys can help. Also thank you in advance.

So i just got a broadband connection, and i decided to network all the computers. Turns out my parents like there old pentium two computer, but it lacks a network card. so i bought one, once i popped it into the pci slot, and started it, there old win 98 machine asked for drivers, which it did not have. Next thing you here is a little spark/pop along with the smell telling me that something just fried. So i quickly unpllugged it. Waited an hour or so to turn on, and once i did that i noticed that the smell was still ther , but now the processor fan turns on and everything seems to be working, but nothing loads. It jus sits there making noise. Any bright answers for this dreadful curse.

Thanks for the quick reply. Is there any way i can go about making this paper weight into something more useful, such as a pc . Any nice solutions of fixes
