Aida32

Ok guys, I downloaded the Aida32, and now I don't know what to do with it or how to use it ! Will someone PLEASE help me with this issue ? Even though this program is suppose to tell me what's going on with my pc, of course I'll have to get someone else to interpretit everything to me !! But my first objective is to learn how to run the thing !!

it downloads as a zip archive. You need to extract it to a folder. In the folder is an .EXE .. you need to click on it ( aida32.exe ) and it will run.

This application interrogates your PC configuration so I'm not sure what you mean by ".. is supposed to tell me what's going on with my pc.."

 

If you have trouble with KODO's post,
downlad "Everest" same thing as Aida but is self extracting, download to desktop then click on it, it will install then just open and use.
Just click on any of the icons or stuff on the right.
The program is harmless you can hurt anything, Just click, Look and Learn.
After you do that if you got questions just post um

Thanks BigBazza, I've already downloaded it (everest) and run it and it has some disturbing info on it !! It says I have hardly NO memory left, as my computer says I have only used like 23% . So why is my computer lying to me ?? Here I am thinking I got all kind of memory. Is there a place I can post the memory results so you ' smarter-than-I-am ' guys can tell me if there's anything I can do about this , other than buying more memory ? My buying power is completely out of gas !!

 

Wanda, I've forgotten if I have read about your computer specs before in other posts. What operating system are you using? Win98, ME, XP, etc? How much RAM have you installed?

If you are using W9x or ME, try Analog X MaxMem http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=307

I haven't checked if it runs, or if it is necessary, for XP.

I load it shortly after startup. Then I run it twice in quick succession to clear maximum memory, then close it down as it sometimes conflicts with running programs as it runs automatically every 5 minutes, or so. Sometimes this auto feature is not desirable.

A suggestion. Run Everest. Keep it open. Run Maxmem and note the difference (as per Everest) before and after running. You will see the figures altering before your eyes as MaxMem runs. I've just done it now on my W98SE laptop to check it out. Hope this helps. Bazza

I downloaded the Maxmem, it did free up some. You know I'm a computer Dummie ( computer challenged ), so I'm a little afraid of anything new, I don't understand what I read really good, it gets jumbled , maybe my "memory" is used up too !! I can't figure out how to use anything very complicated. Any way this is what Everest is showing now.

Wanda, did you run it twice, in quick succession. I would have thought it would do better than that, in freeing up RAM. Certainly does on my W98SE laptop. ME could be another story, though. Bazza
PS: I get the same message on my PC, although mine is maxed out on the amount of RAM I can install. (288mb of RAM). More memory would help you if you can afford it. At least another 128mb. Baz

Thank you BigBazza, I appreciate your help. I tried to run Maxmem 2 X's , but it said I could only run it once for each something or other so I clicked "ok". I guess I'll end up having to get another memory chip eventually, I don't know when it seems I never have any extra money at the end of the month . I'll just have to contend with going really slow on the net .

I'm such a dummie, I was trying to get Everest hm edition to "free" up mem !! I went back to the Memmax and clicked some more and it freed up 45 % !!!! Thank you so much. Do you see why I'm always in MG ? I'm always lost ! ( I have bipolar disorder and I have e real hard time trying to focus on things and get my thinking process in order ) So I really do appreciate all of you guys !

 

Wanda, glad it worked for you. But remember if you leave it running all the time it occasionally clashes with other programs. I run it twice, then usually close it down.
I find it hard to focus, on mg, when I usually logon around 4-5am. Bazza

Bigbza, Thanks, I appreciate all your help. I have been having some problems lately, I'm glad I came back (finally) to check this post, I've been runing it (memmax )the whole time !! I checked the "reply with instant email" box, but for whatever reason, it isn't complying lately ! And don't worry about focusing early in the morning, I have that problem all the time. I know a lot of it is the meds.the doc gave me 2 new meds, thought they might do better, but they seem to to really space me out, I was already having a time trying to stay 'real', now it's like ' oh no Scotty don't beam me up !!' lol
