Airport Extreme

I have an airport extreme that I am setting up, and I have a 1tb HD that I want to use for backing up files and such.

Problem is I only own PCs and iOS devices, so what would be the best way for me to use the airport extreme with my computers?

Unlike most "normal" routers that have web interfaces, if you want to manage/change setting in the airport express you will need to download the airport control software. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1391

I'm just trying to use my 1tb HD with the airport and my computers, and can't seem to get it to work.

 

Does it give an error? I dont have one but did setup one for our camp with shared storage and it was point and click easy.

 

Were you able to get it to work with PCs?

Does the HD have to be a certain format?

 

I didn't even try on the pcs, it was mostly for the ranger and he has a macbook.

 

What format was the hd that you had?

 

Dont even recall. It sounds like theres an airport disk utility that needs to be installed for windows machines to access the shared hd.
