The only thing I can think of is the overheating alarm that some computers come with. To be sure, I wouldn't run it as you can damage the CPU\motherboard. I would either take it in to get it looked at or if you are indeed savvy enough, take the side off and when starting the PC, make sure fans are spinning, and\or not shutting off after a time period.

Being i don't know if it's a laptop or desktop, make sure the laptop is well ventilated while sitting if on, as well make sure the desktop can properly expel the heated air. However, I would definitely do the above first.

    Cheers,

    Paul

    Yes which Windows?

Describe exactly what happens, what you see on the screen when the sounds start, where the sounds come from ( external speakers or inside the box) how long the sounds go on for. Does Windows work properly otherwise? does it happen in safe mode?

The smart-aleck answer is that's what happens when you break into the neighbors to use their computer.

The geek answer, is to make sure it's coming from the CPU. If it's XP, is this after the blue scrolly bar appears and as it's heading to the welcome screen? Or just as the scrolly bar is up?

    thank you studiot..
    i'm using windows xp sp2.
when system boots the alarm starts and now the beep has changed from fire alarm to beeeep - beep.. i think its 2-1 and continously beeping( first beep alarms twice as lengthy as second one.. days went i havent noticed the alarm change.. it alarms before the monitor can show anything. i tried safe mode though not relevant now, its still alarming..
sounds come from inside box.. windows do not give me any noticeable problem other than alarming..
    Thanks once again

    The system powers up
    Windows boots

    So what was on screen?

    This is very important
'system boots' is not an exact description, but the fact that the sound is coming from the internal sounder suggests you mean when the system powers up before boot.

If this is the case, the bios is reporting a fault or a change. Go into the bios and reset whatever. This could be case opened, low battery, memory count error.......

If the sound occurs whilst windows is booting it is probably a virus.
