Albatron Geforce6800LE overclock

I recently bought this card ( 2 days ago. ) The problem is that i cannot overclock the core frequency ( i am using the overclock utility in the nvidia driver - version 71.84 ), it accepts overclocking only the memory bus ( i have succesfully overclocked it at 800mhz ). I tried it also with Rivatuner and again i get the same thing. When i try to overclock the core frequency and test it, it will not even start the test. Instead i get a message saying "The driver failed to pass internal test with the clock settings you are about to set. Lower the settings and try again"

Is the core frequency on the card locked? Or the nvidia driver is preventing overclocking? Is there something i can do?

 

I have that driver on a 6800gt,I have also have it on an fx5700 there is no overclock option unless I install coolbits and uncover the hidden functions is that what you have done?where is the nvidia overclock menu located that you have used?

It's an LE, which I would assume is an acronym for limited edition, so therefore it wouldn't be able to be clocked as high.

I don't own one and I am just going by the label, so I may be way off.

 

Yes LE stands for Limited Edition, and as i know nvidia at first planned to sell the card only as a OEM product, but eventually it got out to be selled normaly. It has a bit weird results in benchmarks also. In high resulotions ( over 1280x1024 )with 4xFSAA etc. is faster than a 6600GT, but is slower than a 6600 in lower resolutions and without FSAA.

Anyway, i tried to overclock the card because in a site that tested the card i read that they managed to reach 450Mhz for core and 850Mhz mem.bus ( normal speed is 300mhz / 700mhz ).

Lesson - Do not believe anything you read in a site until you check about it yourself

Rikky in the CD that came with the card there was a .reg file named "nvtweak". I installed this file and it unlocked the overclocking utility in the driver.

 

I learnt a long time ago to not believe everything online or that it has to apply to you, but anyway no harm done.

Still a pretty good card regardless.

 

If its a manufacturers cd then maybee they dont want you to overclock the core as you said the driver could be stopping it.A complete guess and shot in the dark but you could try reinstalling the driver from nvidia,use a driver cleaner to remove the old one
