Hi, its been a while since i dont come up here for help(09-18-08). back then i had a top of the range Acer Laptop, that ended up dying(first HD, then CPU or either Graphics Card fryed ), because of heating problems.

Ive purchased a top of the range alienware m15x laptop since, and now again after one year of operation, im running into similar problems :(. Im begining to hate this top of the range Laptops. I had really high hopes for this one, the Dual FAN system with dual Heatpipe design is much better than Acer single heatpipe and very small FAN Design.

I dont want to jump into conclusions right away, but the thing is: we had one or two days here where i live, where temperatures reached 39ÂșC( celsius ) ambient temperature, the laptop was ON the all day( on High perfomance Mode ), with the windows open. The Laptop was not in use during those 2 days, it was just in "high performance mode"; The thing is, in the evening when we came home we moved it to another room, and switched the AC ON and started playing. this was 7 days ago.

I started having this weird BSODS, wich i had only twice in the past:
1st During a Games for windows Live update via STEAM that conflicted with Windows Update, and fixed it by removing GFWL, disabling auto update with windows update, and installing it again via STEAM.
2nd During another GFWL update, wich i fixed following what i did before.

Ok so now, Well i did that again, and it worked for 2 or 3 days, but there have been no recent GFWL updates, and my guess is this BSODS are related to the high temperatures that the system was submited for!
Yesterday, the BSODS appeared again, i reinstalled GFWL and played happy for 8 hours or more.
This morning im having BSODS again. I think, this has to be related to HW, but anyway, shouldnt the system have a failsafe system that automatically shuts down everything if one of systems components reaches an high temperature?

I need some advice on what hardware tests to run and we can take it from there... i really hope hardware is not damaged but my guess it maybe is.
so far ive not touched any original driver that came with the laptop since it came from alienware, and this laptop has worked amazingly well for one year.

ive run chskdisk with no errors, dunno what tests to run next to find what the problem.

How about generating some baseline temps firstly and then we will give it some "nudges" on the GPU, CPU and then both.

    Can you run either:
    EVEREST Free Edition 2.20
    or
    Real Temp
Let it idle for 20mins and then grab a baseline "idle temp" and voltages if u can, screenshot works!

The thing may need to be dismantled so you can refresh the TIM but "equally" it was DL and updating software during this time and I would be running CCleaner Slim 2.27.1070 and doing a clean (inc reg.)
