    Plenty of instructions out there.
    www.sarc.com
    www.majorgeeks.com (removal tool)
    www.microsoft.com

    There are many others.

It seems odd that you are the only one here with these Avast issues

With all due respect, you might want to upgrade the virus definitions of the "me" Antivirus.

You shouldn't have caught any Sasser variant if your computer was updated with the latest security updates.

Prevention is a much better tool than task manager.

If you have system restore, have you tried turning it off and then back on? The virus may be saved in that. Just a thought :)

I'd just like to confirm that this ISNT a "which antivirus is best" thread but a "which antivirus DO YOU USE" thread. Difference

I use AVG and see that it's second to Avast. I'll have to give it a whirl though I haven't had any problems with AVG and they have frequent updates. No problems here with Sasser.

Avast. Efficent, frequent updates (both virus data and program), good help techs and no problems.

unforntunatly, I tried Panda Anitviris, and now, when I ever I unistall it it stops ma internet from working (something to do with an inbuilt proxy???) well, before I changed, I used and was always satified with AVG, tho, it started to get a process that took up too much CPU time when I was playing certain games....

As soon as I rid my self of of Panda (with a clean install of windows no less, which I probably could do with anyway, so I guess its no biggie...), I will be returning to AVG, or giving avast ago...

The first I ever used, McAfee av and firewall still use on 2 PC's (never any problems)
I also use AVG on 4 other PC'c one is laptop No problems,

On all rigs also use Spybot Search and Destroy and Spyware blaster and Zone Alarm firewall (Free) (no ZA on the two McAfee rigs)
    + Hardware firewall/Router!
    Broadband cable connection!
I have several other programs paid and free, Panda, Norton, pccillian, Avast, Etc., tried all cant say I had any real problems with any persay.
Some use more resources than others, some more user friendly than others.
Any given day each could shine, some pick up what others dont, and vice a versa.
I use acouple rigs to test all sorts of programs
Also on ocassion do online scan.

Today, Top vote overall, got to give to AVG (Free), Tomarrow who knows!

well, I didnt need a clean install... just a bit more thought...

I feel safe with AVG, but there are so many differing opinions.

It is best to have one that updates daily, in my expirience with AVG, I should think that its 3/4 times weekly (but dont hold me to that)

I am lucky in that I have only ever had one viris, and AVG picked it up before it did anyharm... but I guess that I am a bit bias...

I had AVG before I tried the free Panda edition, had nothing but problems with Panda. Went back to AVG and will stay with it for awhile. I like it. Steve
