All downloads are corrupt

I just built a new system and I've never encountered this problem before.This is probably my 7th PC I've built.The problem is whatever files i download are corrupt when i try running them also when i view webpages i have to hit reload (firefox) to fix the type.It's not my dsl connection because my other 2 pc's are fine I've downloaded the exact files and they are corrupt on my newest pc.My specs are.
Asus p5q pro (cd drivers)
xfx 9800gtx (cd drivers)
4Gig of ram (2gx2)
windows xp sp2 (oem)

Have you tried to re-install the drivers though I'm sure you've checked Device manager already. Do you have an extra PCI ethernet card you could try? Seeing as you've built quite a few rigs those questions must sound simplistic.

 

You built the sys and used an OEM XP ?? I'm probably missing something.

 

All that means is that you can only use it on one machine, period. You can't transfer it like you can with the retail version. Quite a bit cheaper.

I've got retail versions of xp.I thought it might be the install disk that had the problem so i tried a oem that my wife got with her dell that was never registered.And yes ive tried new drivers.I downloaded onto a usb drive from another system because anything i download is corrupt.Someone on the maxpc forum told me to try memtest 86.i never used it before.

 

Memtest86 is easy to run, burn a ISO and boot to CD. A good RAM checker.

 

I've just installed 2 sticks of ram from another pc that works (2x1gb) and i still get the same results.

 

I got .I tried a old pci 10x100 network card by 3com and everything works now.Its weird even after updating lan drivers for my onboard lan it still isnt working right.Iguess im stuck with a pci lan .What is the best lan card to get or do you think im good.Also thanks for your help.

 

Hey, whatever works man. I had a similar problem on my old rig and putting a card in solved my issue. As to what's best, they're all good cards and very cheap! I think you're OK but do get a second opinion.
