All folders stuck on "read-only"

I have a problem with all of the folders on my computer. they're all stuck on "read-only" and the little check box is grayed out. i can click on it and the check mark goes away, but when i click on apply or ok an error message pops up.

the window is called Error Applying Attributes

An error occurred applying attributes to the file
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Des...\data
Access is denied.

It's like that for all of the folders.
this happened after i deleted most of the ragnarok files on my computer. it worked fine just before so i don't know why it's screwing up now.

i'm running windows xp home service pack 2

can you guys help me with this?

Do you have full access on your computer (you have administration right).

if you have only user right that's why you can't change the Attributes.

 

Depending on the folder...you didn't give the exact path.

Its perfectly normal for the read only box to be checked.
