All my folders/files are arranging themselves from Z-A by default

I don't know when it happened but it is annoying me to death.

If I went to view any folder they were arranged from Z-A rather than A-Z.

I have gone to Tools>Folder Options> and reset everything

I have tried ticking 'remember folder settings' and unticking it.

I can manually set each folder to be view A-Z and it seems to stay that way.

but here is the really annoying part.

If I try to access files through a program (File>Open), be it photoshop, word, premiere, whatever, they are all Z-A again and there is no way to stop it. Even when I have set the folder to be arranged A-Z, the program will still view it Z-A

Any idea as to why this has happened and how I could fix it?

I can't get panda to install.

While downloading ActiveX to run Active Scan it gets to about 55% and tells me that there are 0 seconds to go and then it just sits there.

    Anything else I can try?

    Hi

I know this has seemingly resolved itself, but a possible cause for future reference is that if your using XP, it can only remember the customised settings of a limited amount of folders, ones that are less used once this limit is hit ( 5000 folders iirc ) then the others are disguarded.

a fix would be to install the TweakUI component from Powertoys for XP once installed and run, goto the Explorer menu > Customizations and change the figure higher say double to start with > apply.

... the above maybe the reason or may not be, but as you were using that folder alot to work on maybe in time XP has remembered that as a common used folder and kept its setttings.

I'll try your suggestion in case it will prevent it from happening in the future.

I searched all over the internet for some information and only managed to find two other people who had it happen to them but no one could offer an explanation or advice on what to do.

I guess its one of these glitches that occurs once in a blue moon. Lucky me eh?

This is one of the strangest things I have ever encountered.

It certainly is and I don't think it's common because no one has any definite fixes for it.

I wonder if it will happen to me again...
