All my Word documents now WordPad

What in the world did I do? All of a sudden, all my Microsoft Word 2000 documents are in WordPad. The only thing I remember messing with is that I removed the WordPerfect program that came with my computer after I kept getting error messages about it even when I wasn't using it. Any help appreciated.

 

Do you have Microsoft Word installed? if not what happened is that your Word documents have not changed just that you don't have a program to open them and so they are being opened in wordpad.

 

Right click any Word document...
Select "Properties"...
In General tab area near the top...
Below "Type of file:" is "Opens with:"...
Click the "Change" button there and select "Microsoft Word 2000" then click "Ok".
This will make Microsoft Word 2000 the default program for opening all Word documents.

 

Wow! Quick replies. Yes, I do have Word installed. And when I tried PCJinx' advice, it worked beautifully. And not only for the one document, but for all of them. Thanks a whole lot!
