Almost no Internet? Noooooo!

Ok, I have been having a major problem. I can go to some sites, but not others. Mainly the major websites I can't go to. Hotmail. Google. I can't log into any e-mails. And most importantly, I can't get onto any online games! That is the most important thing of all.

In more detail. It seems like the sites are loading. It says in the browser, "Website found, waiting for reply..." Wellllllll, it never loads. And it either says action cancelled or site not found. I need help bad. I think it may be a virus, but nothing other than internet is affected. I have contacted my service provider, Cox, and they pinged me. They said it had nothing to do with them. So I'm stuck. You know how it feels to have not internet. Please, I beg you to help me. I probably have 200 important e-mails. Oh geesh.

 

Does anyone actually read these? I really need help. I don't know what to do!!!!!!! Pleeeaaaassseeee!!!!!!

 

what is your operating system?

 

If anyone is going to be able to help you they will need some more information. What OS? Have you run pertinant spyware/adware/virus scans? Do you have a firewall? That is just the beginning, you might try checking out this thread http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407
I am not suggesting that your problem is spyware/virus related, but that might be a good place to start.

 

Ok I'm running Windows XP Home with Internet Explorer 6.0. I have run several different spyware/adware/virus scans. One would be Stop Sign (eAccelleration). Another would be PCBugDoctor. And then last would be AdAware. All of them have come up with errors. Spyware, Infections. The usual. That always happens. And I was able to quarentine or delete them.

try Spybot Search & Destroy and another antivirus like AVG, and the stuff u deleted could have been explorer files, so try running windows update, maybe try reinstall explorer, or try a different internet like firefox
