Alot of XP problems

ok i have a IBM thinkpad t40

well i tried to get on netscape and it said something like :
"Windows cannot access the specified decive, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this item"

and..

when i go to word to get my paper it has some installing word thing, it tries to do it, and it cant
..on the bottom it brings up a bubble saying windows-corrupt file. this file or directory C:/DOCUME~1 is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.

and lastly

office xp says error 1217. Setup cannot create the folder C:/documents amd settings/all users. verify that the path exists in your sustem and that you have sufficient permissions to update

i restarted and it ran some scan and everything works now...but idk if it fixed it for good...
..any advice would be great

try reinstalling the software which doesnt work, or manually check if it is still there... you might also have corruptions on ur hard drive that caused the data loss
