ALT+TAB or shut program - UT

whenever I multi task (well technically I just want to look at my incoming msn message) i try to alt+tab out of Unreal Tournament (1) and it takes forever, like half a min before things start "moving" again. Same when I shut down, I have to wait a while for it to fully shut down before I can run anything else.

One of me mates have got UT as well on a newer pc but he can do that no worries within a second. Can anyone shad a light on that? its really annoying

I have a decent pc:
p4 2.4
768 DDR
gf 4400
120gig

ps. im not old fashioned, dw, i play new games too

 

If you are not running in windowed mode, that is the problem. It also helps to set your game and desktop to the same resolution, frequency and color depth.
