Okay so I'm still trying to play through my speakers. I haven't been able do so and alternate and with my headphones. Please help? When I right click my speaker button, then click on playback devices, I only see two choices: one for headphones, and one for SPDIF out.
The second choice does not allow me to do anything for my speakers. My computer does not recognize them. The specifications for my hardware are all my profile.
    Please help!
    Thank you.

Since you have an X-Fi I would plug the speakers in there and h/phones in the front panel. I don't know that card except that it's good. 7.1 should be reserved for speakers. Is there an install CD with that? You should be able to hear the speakers normally with no h/phones and only h/phones when plugged in front.

Ok.. I will try that. What do you mean by 7.1? There is an install CD, but that would mean reverting back to old software and drivers :-/... I believe I tried pluging in like you said but did not work.. But I will try again and let you know...

Just thinking auggiedoggie wouldn't I have to have the default sound card listed (in device manager) before proceeding? It is really difficult for me to get to the back of the puter and unplug and plug back etc.. Thanks... :confused

Means 7 speakers and one sub-woofer.

Yes, of course. I assumed the card was working. So it doesn't show in dev man, completely different scenario. There should be a yellow warning at least showing in the audio section. What does dev man say when you load the drivers from disc? The thing that's strange is that Speccy sees the sound card.:confused
