Am I a victim of photo editing overkill?

I can't quite explain why, but right now I have IrfanView, Adobe PhotoDeluxe, Adobe Active Share and Microsoft PictureIt in my system. I just bought a Lexmark all-in-one printer-copier-scanner and with it came a CD called Roxio Photosuite 5 Standard Edition. I have not installed that CD. It made me wonder if I am a victim of myself (Pogo said, "We have met the enemy--and he is us"). About all I ever want to do with photos are the basic things--such as enlarge, reduce, crop, attach to email. Please advise me on what to do with these various programs which, I assume, all take up space and resources. Thanks.

Thanks, and what happened to printable version?

As always, you all are very helpful.
Frenquently, I print an entire thread because it is so useful. But I can't find the spot to do that now. Is is gone, or just in a spot I don't recognize?

If my feeble mind remembers correctly, installing Photochop or PSP would also add the jpeg option.

I think it had to be any other graphics package actually.

    As for being a victim...

I have Photochop pinned to my start menu!

I think you are very correct Adryn any graphic app generally added the Jpeg file format.

sadly I must admit to being a Photoshop junkie ( need it for work ) I have been to counciling and they are trying to ween me off it but I'm weak!

XNview is another app in the same mold as Irfanview and is also good for croping pics and opening weird GFX formats... you cannot have enough GFX apps IMO ... well maybe a good one like PS/PSP and a cut down basic one just for the simple things like Irfanview/XNview when PS/PSP are overkill.

As I said, always helpful ... plus very entertaining, too! I'm off to do some removals.

I didn't read all the replies, but if you use one of the programs more than the others and it does what you want, get rid of the others. No sense in taking up space if you don't use it.
