Hi. I installed xp, the oem version that came with my daughter's computer, on a used laptop i bought for her at christmas. I also installed it on my dad's computer when he was having trouble with ME. I didn't think it would be a big deal but others are telling me otherwise. What problems can I expect and what is the best course of action at this point? Thanks!

The only problem I see in your future is that you will be asked to activate the software .... within 30 days. With OEM, you will probably get the message that it is activated, but once you download sp2, you will need to activate, or else it will lock you out except for safe mode after the grace period.... there are ways around this, but this site will not endorse hacking.

Thanks a lot. I believe I activated it and even downloaded all the updates - so far my daughter hasn't had any trouble on her laptop (and I loaded it at xmas time) but it hasn't been long enough for my dad to have problems - I guess we may as well bite the bullet and purchase a new copy. Which brings me to another question - will I have to reinstall again or is there a way to insert the new license number?

You should have a separate licence for each installation of Windows that you have.
