In CS 1.6 deathmatch games, i drop fps to sometimes as low as 60s for a few seconds, and i know that with a comp like this i shouldnt see lower than 98...

i almost tried EVERYTHING to fix it, but nothing has helped.

my 3dmark05 benchmark is ~5000 (give or take)

I just formated to fix this problem
I made sure everything was fitted right
    GPU temp is normal (65c)
cpu temp is norma (~53c load)
tried closing other applications (though it shouldn't matter)
    reinstalled cs

if it were CS:S, it would be A LITTLE less aggrivating, but notice i said CS 1.6...

your 3dmark sounds normal... now this may not be it but if it is a constant 60ish fps you may have vsync enabled, and if your vsync is 65 you will only do 65fps

you might also check out a cs tweaking guide I'm sure if you google you'll find plenty

    what resolution are you running?
are you using high levels of AntiAliasing or Anisotropic Filtering?
what kind of Power Supply do you have?

no its not constant 60fpsish, i have reforce which fixes the vsync problem anyway.

no i turned off AA and AF, and this is on 800x600 resolution.
    I have a thermaltake 560w PSU

Lemme guess...your fps drops whenever there's a smoke grenade or many people on your screen?

it certainly shouldnt with his system. even my previous system ran CS 1.6 at a constant 99.99fps (with the 100fps display limit on the netgraph) and never dropped below 98, and that was with a Ti4600.

I honestly cant see why you would be dipping to 60 in such a minimal graphic intensive game unless Steam is to blame.

also, why on earth 800x600? thats terrible :p

i'll test out 1.6 through steam and see what my frames are like.

no i can beat most people in a straight up smoke contest where we just see how many smokes it can handle.. weird aint it
