These are mainly top awarded movies, seen the lot, many are classics that I've seen many times:

    1. Casablanca (classic with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman)

    2. Seven Samurai (Japanese movie with English subtitles...excellent story, enjoyed movie/era)

    3. Gone with the Wind (classic with Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh - have video, read book)

    4. Citizen Kane (Classic directed by Orson Welles who played Kane, with lots of the old stars)

    5. Ordinary People (Robert Redford's directing debut - strong theme)

    6. A Streetcar named Desire (Tennessee Williams' classic starred older Vivien Leigh and young Marlon Brando. Saw movie and plays. Studied it for English Lit and have book)

    7. The Man who shot Liberty Valance (John Ford western starring James Stewart, John Wayne...never been into westerns - good old actors though)

    8. Sunset Boulevard (classic - seen movie, broadway play and read book. Billie Wilder's movie starred a young William Holden and an older Gloria Swanson - both great actors of the old Hollywood era)

    9. Schindler's List (excellent Steven Spielberg movie - true story)

    10. The Rules of the Game (French movie - English subtitles...story line couldn't keep my interest)

'fraid I'm a bit of a movie buff and love the old classics or good story lines/themes:) But that's my taste in this type of entertainment.:p

It didn't make the top ten but I really liked Rear Window
Alfred Hitchcock director with James Stewart and Grace Kelly.
Saw it when it was first out then in the 80's heard it had been lost (to the public) was found in a vault.

    @Darlene...Interesting movie that.

Think the only Hitchcock movie I didn't take to was "The Birds". Although I appreciated the reasoning of the theme...all those birds looked sozzled (drunk)...which they were!:p

The birds appeared to barely be able to hang onto their perches without falling off!:D

Unfortunately to attract and keep birds around areas for film shooting they soaked food for the birds...such a practice is illegal now. Years later Rod Taylor star from that show when reviewing his movies clearly stated it...Sorry. I know you love these winged creatures.

Em..in those days lots of things were going on with animals in movies that wouldn't be tolerated now as well as now being illegal.

From memory, Rod Taylor did add that the birds weren't harmed (and added with a smile that they "probably ended up with a bad headache")...he also acknowledged that it really wasn't the thing to do, but it was done at the time.

I believe Bodega Bay was infamous for the amount of birds anyway, probably why they chose that local to film the movie.

PS. I grew up in San Francisco not far from, could not go out without getting bombed by a pigeon or seagull, good thing we wore hats back then.

I found Seven Samurai interesting and enjoyable...but then I like that era of Japan's history. As for Schindler's List, I thought it was brilliant. Speilberg went to a lot of effort in selecting cast members and his research shows through in this movie. Thought provoking and inspiring aspects of the good side of human nature whilst observing the exact opposite by the brutalities of war.

I've seen all top ten (see my earlier post)...wouldn't keep all movies as I have such an extensive library of a variety of books...wouldn't know where to keep movies - which are always repeated on Foxtel anyway.;)

Don't have Foxtel (Austel?), probably never will again.
Tried it a long time ago. Just an additional 15 channels of crap at that time.

I think they have improved greatly since then but still not interested.

A great (Free to Air) movie on Friday 19th., Noon (OZ time) on Channel 7.
The taking of Pelham 1-2-3. (original version).
