Please don't make fun of my ancient computer ^_~

    Processor: AMD Athlon 2100+ 1730mhz
    Chipset: NVidia nforce2 Ultra 400
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG, 3/18/2003
Windows XP SP2 (There is a reason we don't have sp3 but my husband knows this, not I)

My computer will not register my USB hubs. It states in the device manager that I have about 4, which are all "working properly". There's also about 6 unknown USB devices. I've tried updating the drivers on each of them, but no go. I do have two USB ports that, if something is plugged into them at the time of startup, will register the new equipment some of the time.

I've had this problem for years. The motherboard actually caught on fire (dust; very bad pc owners, we) a few years ago and I had always assumed this was the reason. The pc has recently been reassembled for use and I have been informed that it is not the fire that disabled our usb ports, but the drivers, which my husband said he found but couldn't install. I am trying to find those drivers again, but since the hardware is so old, it is either not supported anymore or information is buried so far beneath Google's crust that I can't find anything trustworthy.

So I am basically asking you to help find my drivers. Shoddy, I know, but I've been searching for hours and I have yet to find anything that looks safe enough to download. Cnet seems to have hundreds of drivers, but none with exact specifications and chipset drivers aren't exactly something you want to trial & error with.

I am looking specifically for the chipset drivers (NVidia nforce2 Ultra 400). If you can't point me to the drivers themselves then please link me to a couple trustworthy sites where I can continue my information hunt.

    Thanks.

You rock beyond rocking. Thank you. And MGs is certainly a top notch, trustworthy site. I've lurked here off and on forever. Usually I find the solutions/information I need before posting, but this one drove me over the line and I'm glad for it. I've always recommended this site, but now I'll do so with added enthusiasm.

The drivers worked (I think; haven't checked all ports yet). I now have an active printer (hooray) and can use my flashdrive again. No more turning on the other, newer, suckier, vista-riddled pc just to print or copy to cd. Thank you, thank you, thank you! *braless huggle*
