AMD Athlon problem

    I would really appreciate some help on this.
    is it possible to run an AMD Athlon MP 2000+ on an Asrock K7S41GX mobo or has the pc dealer sold me a pup?
    Cant get it to do anything but spin the fans.........
    Jumper set to 266mhz which is I think the speed of the 2000+

    have now tried cpu in another pc and it doesnt work there either
    should probably have tried that before duhhhhhhh
    so now i only have to find another socket a cpu to replace it
