AMD CPU question....

    So... whudduyall think? AMD Phenom 9650 or 9600 quad-core at 2.3ghz -OR- a newer Phenom II 720 tri-core at 2.8ghz? Which CPU would offer the best overall speed and performance for gaming (not hardcore gaming, but not casual either), video conversion, and general use (web surfing, etc)....

    tomshardware.com has some good cpu comparison charts. Last I checked the 9600 was at the bottom of the pack among the quad cores. Not very overclockable either. They sure are cheap though!

    the phenom ll sounds like your best bet. I've managed to try one at a friends and they really perform well. I'd go with the phenom ll .
