Amd Cpu

I am going to be getting a Custom Bilt P.C. for Video Editing.

I Love AMD and I am an AMD Guy all the way.

Even back when I Bilt my Own P.C. System

But I need some help with something?
I know what Dual Core and Quad Core is.

But I see AMD Quad Core 3. Threads.
What are Theads?

The simplest way of looking at it is thinking of each thread as a lane on a highway. The more threads (lanes) you have, the more processing (traffic) you can handle at one time.

Ok I think I have it?

Say you have a CPU with just 2. Real Core but it has 4. Threads.
They say the OS will use the 4. Threads and look at the 4. Threads as 4. Logical Cores?

Do I have this Right?

 

FYI if you plan on using one of the Ryzen chips with onboard graphics like the 2400G, you need to make sure your windows 10 disk is at least build number 1803. I learned this the hard way on a recent build. The older builds don't handle that cpu correctly, and at least in my case, I got stuck in an endless loop of bluescreens as I tried to update windows. but again, I was running a much older windows 10 disc, so YMMV etc.
