AMD Sempron standard ide/esdi controller

    can someone please help me. I bought the student version of windows 7. I tried to install it on my AMD Sempron 2800+ Windows XP SP3. and every time i get this error.

    Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows needs the driver for device [Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller]. Click 'Load Driver' and load the required device driver.

    Can someone please help me?

    Hi

    This message of Windows needs the driver for device [Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller]. Click 'Load Driver' and load the required device driver, can crop up if your PCs BIOS is not upto date to run the latest Windows version.

    OR are you running an inplace upgrade from XP to Windows 7 as this route is not a supported one (while it "may" work in some scenarios its not going to work for all) so from Windows XP you would need a clean install, alfter you have backedup all your important files ad dsettings.

    Did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor? if so what did it mention as to possible issues?

    So some info if you can, please tell us what Make and Model PC you have if its one from the likes of DELL, HP, Gateway, Sony etc etc

    or Please tell us the Motherboard make and model?

    Ok, I am sorry but I have no idea what happened. I seriously messed up my computer now. I am currently on my labtop. On my computer I tried to disable the IDE Controller OR the Sata Controller i am not 100% sure which one. Now when i did that it brought me to a blue screen and than started to reboot. Now My mouse and keyboard light up, I can press F8 to enter to safe mode and i can press delete to go into the settings. But when I am logged into my Windows XP, my mouse and keyboard are still light up, but they do not work. CAn anyone please help me? I messed up really, really bad now.
