AMD vs Pentium ?

Can anyone out there tell me what to expect when dealing with a Authentic AMD 2199 Mhz 86 Family 6 model 10 Stepping 0 processor vs what I am accustomed to with Intel ? I need to know what to expect of this, as I am experiencing difficulties and need to know if it is just the difference in processors or maybe the new puter is Foobared? Is there a detectable difference or am I nuts ?

 

Both CPUs are fine, AMD is known to run hotter but also more robust then Intel. Some claim Intel CPUs run better on Database servers (IMO, it is a corporate bs).
For high-performance/gaming machine with proper overall system cooling I'd recommend AMD. As far as the application or OS compatibility goes, nothing proven to be against either or...one more thing AMD based mobos are a bit pickier on RAM so when buying a AMD based mobo, check with the mobo manufacturer and get only the suggested/recommended RAM brands for maximum compatibility. Especially in the older PC100/133 SDRAMs AMD chipset mobos were very picky on the RAM being high or low density with todays DDR SDRAMs the chipset makes the difference now (NForce, SiS, VIA, etc).
Either way, it is mainly a personal preference...

What do you mean with low and high density ?? i have a 512 pc2100 266 dell RAM with a Abit KV7 mobo!!

 

if your a hardcore gamer then choose AMD..

 

amd...cheaper...better...amd

 

I am sorry for the late response, for DDR SDRAMs what I refered before is somewhat irrelevant so disregard but make sure you got high quality, name brand RAM sticks, don't go cheap!
