AMD4000+ CPU single core

Hi everyone.
Could anyone advise me if I can overclock this cpu.
I have installed it on an Asus A8V-XE board. I have 4- 512mb of ddrram fitted (400). When i checked the speed of the cpu it stated its speed as 2400. It appeared to be greyed out! Is this cpu locked? If so, is it possible to unlock it? and is this motherboard suitable for overclocking? I am new to overclocking and would appreciate some help!!

cpu is locked at the 12 multi.

To over clock it first you need to know your temps or get better cooling.


Then you need to lower the HTT multi then increase your cpu frequency from 200mhz to higher. try in 5mhz increases and check for stablity each time allways watching the temps. ALSO NOTE. when you increase the cpu your memory also gets overclock so use a divider so you dont go to much over 400mhz dapending on your memory.


increase cpu from 200mhz up in 5mhz increases
lower HTT multi
Lower ram divider to somthing like DDR333
Watch your temps
Run a program to check stability

expect a oc from 400mhz to 700mhz but really be happy if you get a extra 400-500mhz out of the chip.
