I have XP SP2 and Adobe Reader 8. Suddenly, the only way I can download a PDF file is if I open Adobe first. If I just clikc on the download I get a message saying it doesn't recognize adboe, etc. Any thoughts?

Just checked. Adobe reader IS listed as enabled and also in the list for running without permission.
Yes, it is through IE 7 that I have trouble. Any other thoughts?

See if this works for you.

Open Adobe Reader 8 > choose Edit > Preferences > Internet.

Select Display PDF in Browser, and then click OK

Nothing has worked yet. I will try the clean uninstall and reinstall tomorrow. Thanks

I have found that it is a Zone Alarm problem. If I shut down ZA and then open the PDF, all works fine. I went into program control for ZA and "trusted" all the adobe programs listed but it is still happening. It looks like Firefox is th answer!

My Mobile Control Code is already turned off so that cannot be the problem. Thanks anyway. D
