I thought it might be interesting to have some people record themselves saying hello to the world and post them here on the forums, as a sort of round the world sound trip, and to give everyone an idea of all the people who visit here!

Plus, you can all laugh at my ridiculous accent!! :D

    I love the idea!!

And you have us AMERICANS all wrong. We are suckers for accents! (Well, a lot of us are anyway) ;) OK, OK - I'm probably just speaking for the ladies.

I work with 3 guys from South Africa and Zimbabwe -- of course, everyone thinks they're from England - which is a very different accent (I can tell that now) but they just melt the girls hearts when they talk on the phone. :)

Haha! Well, yes... my accent is just the southeast accent... it changes MASSIVLEY going around the country... northern, south-west, even london which is a few miles away has a different accent!

girl = gal in london! :p

good idea! but how can we do it? wot software do we need?

  5. goldfish

    goldfish Lt. Sushi.DC

    Start -> run -> sndrec32

    You'll need a mic!

since it'll only be a few seconds long, wav will be fine, but if you can, compress it using mp3.

  6. NeoNemesis

    NeoNemesis Moutharrhea

OR put it in a zip folder.

  7. goldfish

    goldfish Lt. Sushi.DC

Thats a good point, as you can't upload wav or mp3's to the boards. Zip probably won't do much for wav files (they're not very compressable using zip), but it will allow you to upload them.

Any takers? Would be a bit of a shame to have it stop before it even starts!

Thanks!! I did that at home just before work...can't do anything here at work, they do not allow speakers. They're afraid that we'll play music and it will be heard in the background when we are on the phone. So I'll catch up with all of the howdies when I get home tonight. :D

Great thread idea goldy, and you do sound cool. At least to us uncouth yanks. ;)

I'd add one here, but the only mics I have are low impedance XLR condenser mics, and they and my old Mackie mixer are packed away. But I'm enjoying hearing the rest of you.

Very cute -- where was your voice though? :)

(I thought we'd hear "put the microphone down!!!
Stop hitting your sister with it...did you hear me!
I said stop it or I'll, um, is this still on?
Uh, how do I turn it off...?"

-- Oh, sorry, that's what mine might sound like -- if I had a mic.

(there's going to be a big rush at stores now for mics -- can't be very expensive) ;)

I was born and raised in Southall, Middlesex, and I get accused of sounding like Walter Cronkrite! (C.B.S. News Anchorman of the Vietnam War period).

My U.S. college days have a lot to answer for!
