    Hello intelligent knowledgeable Geeks,
Some while back I manage to get hold of some lap tops, got help to run classes in our little village, the things sit idle for long periods
A few days ago I noticed a couple of villagers struggling, with what I imagined to be their shopping, :( an idea occurred to me (I don’t suppose it’s an original idea) why not invite them to do their shopping on line in our village hall, several things sprang to mind.

The older generation (by the way I’m 77) would possible need help using computers
Easily solved, get some savvy people to help
Maybe even get some of the bigger shops, Asda/Wallmart and the like to help in some way.
OK Geeks, anyone heard of this sort of thing before I’d welcome any and all advice
    :wave

OH Yes, Have a COOL YULE AND A GEER YEAR

Wal Mart has a good website, and their 'ship to store' online purchase is a good way to go. But most smaller shops, and maybe larger ones would not really be interested, because the money might not be spent in your community. You can most likely forget any help from the 'Mom and Pop' local stores. Some of the big box stores might be interested.

I work in a small retail shop. December is when we make probably 50% or more of our yearly sales. So don't expect any help from us so people can buy our product online... :-D

Nothing against interweb shopping, I do a lot of it myself. I try to buy local first.

    Hi Tony

Great idea and while I have not heard of companies helping out in this area of PC help before, I would think at this current juncture it would be in their best interest to help locals shop at their shops be it online as they all have online options.

So do try emailing or phoning the marketing or PR depts of these companies instead of the customer service dept as your emails will go astray! as they will have no idea of the potential good will and impact this may do for said company

ASDA, Tesco, Ocado, Waitrose and Sainsbury's all spring to mind for the UK, the first three defo for Liverpool but the other two dunno for our area Tony.

    I've got a GTX480 PCI-E or a 6800GT AGP x8,serious offer.

I'm not sure how much the GTX480 is worth but you could probably sell it for over £100,there's 16 months of warranty left on it.

If you don't game or know someone who does it would be real big waste of horsepower though.
