First off I will admit Computers aren't my forte but could really use some help. My niece kinda knocked my lap top off my desk when I was in the bath room and cracked the monitor so I am trying to attach my Dell flat screen up to my alienware M15x laptop so I can finish my report that counts as 35% of my grade this semester. I have a Female DVI to Female HDMI adaptor plugged in then a Male to Male HDMI cord. It's synced but I can't get out of power save mode. Everything I am finding is saying clean out the tower but I have it plugged into my lap top. I have used the external display funtion key but still nothing. Can you help me out. I really don't want to spend another year with my lecherous proffesor.

You can force the computer off by pushing and holding the power button (on the laptop) for 10-20 seconds, then push it again to boot it up again. Of course, any unsaved data will be lost. That would (presumably) have it NOT in power saving mode (I AM assuming you mean the COMPUTER is i power saving mode).

No it's the monitor but Ty man I'm still trying to figure it out >.< it recognizes the lap top since it doesn't have that red blue white green bar thing bouncing on the screen I have done the external display thing (FN +F6) I have used both the analog and digital ports but still nothing. I know it recognizes it I'm not sure if it's not going to external display or if power save mode isn't recognizing me moving my mouse or hitting keys on the keyboard or what.

There is the possibility that the fall damaged more than the display.

If so why does the monitor recognize it? If been looking alot into this and I alot of people have problems with power save mode in Dell flat screens. I've tried all the things I've found. Both DVI and VGA, unpluged everything waited 20 seconds plugged back in and turned on, dusted out, worked the contrast brightness color and all that dials but nothing.
