After a year with no issues, my android phone (Samsung Galaxy A14) can’t upload contacts to car, but is still semi functional. I’ve tried all of the following several times: Disconnected/Unpaired phone from car, turned off car, cleared cache & data from phone app, re-booted phone, started car, added/paired phone to car successfully. Same message on car display once upload starts… “unable to upload”. I can still receive all calls through my car’s system, view recent calls and can make calls directly from my phone, which will be routed through the car’s system… but I can’t make a hands free call anymore. Any thoughts.

    Hi

My only thought is and you may have tried this is to goto your cars dealer and see if they have an update to car infotainment system, as while phones have regular updates that are easy to install, cars do not unless you have a really new car with "over the air" updates.

    From google:

To upload contacts from your Samsung Galaxy A14 to your car, enable Contact Sharing in your phone's Bluetooth settings for your car's connection, re-pair the devices, and ensure your car's infotainment system is compatible and has the necessary software updates. You may also need to grant the Contacts permission to the Android Auto app, or other relevant apps, through your phone's app settings.
    Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
    1. 1. Check Phone's Bluetooth Settings
      • Go to your phone's Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
      • Find your car's connection in the list of paired devices.
      • Tap the gear icon or "i" icon next to the car's name.
      • Ensure that Contact Sharing or Contact access is enabled.
    2. 2. Grant Permissions to Apps
      • Open Settings > Apps.
      • Find the app responsible for the connection, which may be the Android Auto app, or the Bluetooth app itself.
      • Go to the app's permissions and ensure that Contacts is set to "Allow".
    3. 3. Re-Pair Your Devices
      • On both your phone and your car's infotainment system, delete or forget the paired device.
      • Reconnect your phone to the car, making sure to accept all prompts and requests to share contacts during the pairing process.
    4. 4. Update System Software
      • Ensure your Samsung Galaxy A14 is running the latest version of Android.
      • Check with your car's manufacturer or dealer to see if there are any software updates for the car's infotainment system.
        • f none of the above steps work, you can try resetting your phone's network settings.
        • Go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset network settings. This will reset your Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth settings, and you will need to re-enter any saved Wi-Fi passwords.
