I have a Nationwide Roaming plan meaning I do not pay for roaming, but am required to spend at least 50% of my time in my home area. I have moved meaning anytime now I will receive a letter from US Cellular (very happy with them) that I will be terminated.

The alternative is AT&T or T-Mobile. I am leaning AT&T so as to move to an iPhone. My reasoning is the size of the phone. My Samsung Galaxy S (Mesmerize) is thin and light. Similar Androids would be a HTC Incredible or Droid Bionic- Both are hefty in weight and size.

    Any Geeks with recommendation. :)

    Hey BOOM

I saw this the other day. I can't offer up any comparisons on iPhone v Android. I have an iPhone now. I am Not an Apple fan. I don't like a lot of what the company does as far as the proprietary stuff and frankly my one experience with their customer service was abysmal. However, I do like my iPhone better than all the other phones I've had. My last was a Blackberry before this one. It's just easier to use.

My kids, though, have both had droids and they loved them. My oldest opted for the newest iPhone and loves that (she bought it herself). I don't think she'd go back to the android. I've seen the newest Androids and I can't believe how big they are. That's their biggest downfall. They can't be that large and seriously compete with an iPhone. The features look comparable though.

Anyway, not really the input you were looking for, I know, but I can say I like it.

Thank you for the reply, LauraR.

I needled my sil telling him I would ban him from the network router here due to his purchase of an iPhone. It was HIS pointing out the size comparison between my 2 yr old Android and his 3G iPhone that prompted this thread.

You have his same conclusion, and I have to admit some thought time has brought me to the same conclusion as he and you.
. Considering the outlay of cash, I think Apple has show to be better hardware.

    - Android development is fractured and the Manufactuers holding carriers ransom for $$ to release updates is annoying. (USCC waited almost a year to release Gingerbread for my device and will NEVER release Ice Cream for it).

    - It is more of a Chevy/Ford Truck reasoning that the failure of Android devices still remains almost equal to Apple. (every production run will have some leeway)

    Drawbacks I see-

    - Lack of warranty for the iPhone. (meh, my sil paid $100 for his and new glass is $6)

    - MicroUSB cords will have to be replaced including car charger.

I am going to still await the "kiss of death" letter, since I have spent 7 months "growing the economy" while on unemployment.

Any other geeks have opinions, and want to chime in?

    Come on you slinking lurkers!!

who cares if its a little bigger, the screen is nearly indestructible and its got better viewing angles being an AMOLED screen v a backlit LED. not to mention there are a lot more free apps and flash support on android.

AxleXavier, how does flash help me make phone calls, again?

I just jailbreaked my device and then put flash on it. ;)

I fail to see how apple is the "dark side"
Everyone thinks that Apple is too controlling and they certainly like that.

Steve Jobs said "It's really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them."
That's true, at least to those not big into technology.:-D

Contrary to that quote, Apple's problem has been that at times they limit themselves too much(such as iTunes/iPods only working on macs) But they did get allot of that right, and I see a big business future for them now that Steve is gone. R.I.P. Steve Jobs.

    < Happy Android user.

If your new carrier has any Samsung phones you might give them a good look. I'm patiently awaiting my next upgrade discount and will likely go for another Samsung/Android.

well if youre only concerned about making phone calls dont blow money on an over priced touch screen. i personally would never blow the money on anything touch screen. but the call quality is nearly the same on the 2 of them. if u think its worth $200+ more for slightly better call quality well then youre an idiot with too much money to throw around.:-D

most people who do use apple products are idiot fanboy sheep that dont really research the competition and swallow the rampant apple commercialism. and i think any one if they did the research would see the galaxy s is a better (if not equal), more durable product for approx $200+ less.
but hey if youre a sucker for basic stats then the iphone has more resolution to boast (while not actually providing a better screen) and has a slightly better camera.

i think people have a responsibility to be educated consumers but instead most are status stroking sheep who cant find more productive ways to throw their cash around.:major

Are you Trying to be as offensive as you came off? I hope not.

I'd suggest if you are going to respond to threads you do it in a respectful way.

I haven't read through all posts in detail but put bluntly

    Galaxy S2 period.

More powerful than an iPhone. Better Camera, no proprietry crap.... just plain better. Whats more it runs Android.

Size and weight it is almost identical to iPhone 4
