She wrote one of my first and favorite fantasy series: The Dragonriders of Pern.

I found the first book by chance when I was browsing in the library. I took it home and read it...loved it...and found out it was a middle book in an already large series of books. After that, I started at the beginning and loved every one of them. I turned my youngest sister onto them after that.

The book I found in the Library that day was 'The Chronicles of Pern: First fall'. It was well into her series, but interestingly it was Chronologically in the beginning which is why I was obviously able to read it and not feel lost.


Here is the link to all the books. It looks like you are right. It did start as a Trilogy.
