    Hi People,

I am currently using Sygate Personal Firewall Pro, but I need a little bit more security, I dont want people being able to see my 'real' IP, or scan my ports, and close all possible ports that are opened but are a security hazzard and are NOT needed....

I`m new to this security jargon, personally I`ve always thought that if you have the latest firewall and virus checker, then your set.. but after reading a fair bit, I`ve found that isnt actually the case at all....

Please let me know, is there specific programs out there that allow you to do what I am looking for above, or a program with an enable/disable option to turn it on/off?

All I have installed is Sygate PFP, Avast AntiVirus (Best Anti Viral tool I`ve ever used, and the fastes, less resource hungry! got 20% of my system resources back after going from norton to avast!)

I also have WinXP firewall enabled, I have a Speedtouch 530 ADSL modem using the RJ-45 connector, I have a Netgear Dual Speed hub (DS106), I have the Speedtouch 530 plugged into the 'uplink' of the hub, and I just connect my network cord into port 1, the modem automatically connects by itself, saves username/password to the modem itself, so if someone else wants to use the net, they can, currently there is 3 people sharing the connection bandith.. (Me, port 1, Brother Port 2, Father Port 3)

If necassary I will set the modem up in router mode, so I have to use the XP connection software, or Intranet 300 software, and connect when needed, and put my system through the hub and download via that way... and have people connect into me to share the bandwidth...

Let me know what to do, whats the best alternative, and what I should do next...

If you are running Sygate, then you should turn off Windows Firewall - It's not a good idea to run two different firewalls at the same time ;)
