Hey guys, i've got an annoying problem: A lot of times, I'll be doing stuff with my computer (moving files around, deleting ect) and everytime I push, for example, Shift+delete to permanently delete a file, my display will blank out for a second and then come back and be fine. But it happens with almost every right click and shift+delete and it gets getting really annoying to have to wait for the display to come back. I think it has something to do with my graphics card which is (see subject line) a nVidia GeForce FX5200. I've got an Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.2 with 512 RAM running XP pro. Is it a driver update I need or something I'll just have to live with?

    Thanks for the help(hopefully)

Yes it could well be a driver issue and updating the drivers could help Nvidia 78.03 WHQL drivers

also check your event logs for any mesages around the times of the blank screen episodes for clues as to what maybe causeing the error, Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer ( and most likely either in System or Application )

are you fully upto date will all XP updates?

Thanks! I didnt even know about the event viewer, but it looks pretty sweet. It'll be useful in future problems. My problem isnt showing its ugly head right now, but I'll know what to do next time. And thanks for the link to the appropriate driver!

Alright, it's finally happening again. The only problem is that it's not showing up on the event viewer. Further, I've noticed that the screen only blanks out when I right-click/Shift+Del a video file that opens in WMP. Soooooooo...problem with media player? or problem w/ the video card or some combination of the two, I'm not sure. At any rate, I'm stumped. Any ideas?

Ok update the graphic card driver to latest available ( link above ) , plus what version of WMP do you have? check for updates.

Alright, just downloaded the driver, installed, rebooted and tried right-clicking vid files, and the screen still blanks out. I've got Version 10 of WMP; downloaded straight off Microsoft. Does it have something to do with my screen perhaps? I've got a Philips 17" widescreen HD TV that doubles as my computer screen. I wouldn't think it has anything to do with my screen because everything else works fine, but I thought it best to include as many details as I could. Actually to be specific, I have Windows Media Player Version 10.00.00.3646 according to "about Windows Media Player" in the help menu.

Thanks for the quick replies by the way.
