Can anyone out there help me rid myself of a minor but irritating glitch?

    Let me explain................

    I run Win XP SP.

When I hit restart as I do occasionally to check the condition of my main hard drive I always get the warning............'The size of the windows temp CS 608,609........834, etc is not valid.'
It then corrects this 'error' and continues to load up windows.

Can anyone explain just what is causing this?
I don't find it threating my system in any way but I've tried Norton System Works, bug doctor, Tune up utilities, etc and not one has found this as a fault.
I'd be very grateful if I could get rid of this.
Just to add..I've even reinstalled XP Pro and I still get it.

Many thanks for even reading this

Hmmm, it gets rid of more than just that. :)

The major issue here (i think) is his %temp% directory having something invalid in it.

    Another thing to try is:

at the command prompt (start, run, cmd (press enter))

    chkdsk c: /r
