HI all bought my son a new PC for xmas and he activated Norton, because he said "well i get it for 60 days anyway so i thought i might aswell use it", even though i told him not to bother, but there you go thats kids for you won't listen to dad, so now he's phoned me saying, he has the old annoying activation popup still appearing, so now i have convinced him to get rid, he has Win 7 Premium, whats the best option to remove, is it with the Norton uninstall tool, or use Revo !

    Cheers Rusty !

P.S i need to email him the link, and what's he better off using instead, as i'm not fully up to date with 7 !

Absolutely use the Norton Removal Tool. I tried uninstalling the trial version of Norton when I first got my laptop, and when I installed my new antivirus (Avast), the remaining remnants of Norton caused such severe conflicts, that it was a true nightmare, bad enought that HP allowed me to exchange my corrupted laptop for a new one!!!

The problem had nothing to do with the Avast --- it was caused by the remnants of Norton left behind when I uninstalled it. When I used the Norton Removal Tool, the uninstallation was apparently thorough and complete, and there were no problems --- the system (with Avast) worked perfectly.

    Rusty,

You'll find it on the bottom of the Top Freeware page under Other Freebies you guys love.

I will first uninstall using the Windows Add/Remove, or whatever it is called in 7. Reboot and run this unistaller twice, with a reboot in between.
On computers I am working on, even if I don't see any remnants, I run both this and the Mcaffee as a matter of routine. I'd say >90% have pieces of either or both of these programs. And nothing is damaged if there wasn't anything there. :):wave:major
