i have been getting the annoying security centre alert, i have tried to follow the instructions given on Howtogeek.com, i have even downloaded Tweak UAC, it dosen't work at all and the problem still persists, due to when i go into the security caentre on the left i have the little World/ Internet Icon then it says

" Get the latest security and virus information online from microsoft",
But under that i do not have it saying to me

"Change the way security centre alerts me " there is no sign of it saying that anywhere at all !
Where do i go from here, or what do i do to stop it, i'm the administrator Vista 32Bit SP2 " 2 gig ram.
P.S i'm not a lover of switching off UAC altogether !
Also i only get in on boot !

Have already posted this on Howtogeek due to them giving a tutorial on it, but have had little response !

Maybe it's one of those where the answer is sat in front of me but, i can't seem to see it !

HELP ! if you can please ! as it is just annoying me, and for some reason i can't seem to get round it !

    rustyjack,

If you are getting this popup, then there is a better than average chance that you have been infected with some malware. Why not go to our own Malware Removal forum and give the Read an Run Me First a shot? :)

I think TimW was saying that it was rude that you didn't get much response on the other board.

Did you find the malware section here? It's a little daunting when you first look at it, but I promise that it hasn't let me down yet if I didn't cheat and went through the entire procedure, in order, reading and following the directions before starting any step along the way. It was harder to not skip ahead and read the exact instructions all the way through than it was to actually fix the machine.

The thread with the solutions are here - http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

    Step 1: open mouth.
    Step 2: .....you know.:-D;)

Don't worry about it too much. (Rusty had his share of ribbing when just starting too).
Have even seen the Mods and Admins slip on occasion.
Just proves we're human, not bots.
