Another cannot connect to the internet..

    Hello,
    Not sure if this is hardware or network or spyware/virus.
    Client:Laptop
    Primary Access:Wireless
    OP:Windows XP Home

    My friends laptop computer stopped responding to there host verizon dsl(PPPeo I think).There computer desktop works fine and the secondary laptop also.They are all tied into the same router.This laptop is mostly used as a wireless client.I had them do testing plugged into there router.It looks like the client in question detects a wireless signal and when plugged in directly shows a connected box under network settings...It just cannot get out...
    This happened after a software installation of some other wireless anywhere service provider install.Live anywhere or something like that.It sounded bogus.They never gave me the name of the software.
    I had them boot in safe mode wired to the router and try to connect still no luck.I had them flush the dns.
    The error pop up box is..... windows cannot connect to the internet using http...ftp...ect
    I need some help on this one

    Is this with IE7? Have you tried Firefox? Just asking because I have a very similar situation. I was troubleshooting all the hardware all freaking day once, and noticed they had Firefox on the pc as well. I clicked on it and off it went. Firefox works fine but no IE7. Unistalled IE7, reinstalled, still nothing. For the time being, I told them to use Firefox. I got no clue. Post a cure if you fine one.

    Try reinstalling IE7 again. Apparently, you have to install it with the MS malicious tool removal. I read some malware removal programs got aggressive and as a result, some people could not get on the internet with IE7. (This is information from a paid newsletter that I subscribe to). If I can find the information not from a paid source, I'll post a link so you can read exactly what is happening.
