    Hello,
I just got an external drive and moved all my music there.
I kept my downloaded music on my hard drive as a back up and deleted files I have the CD for. Recently I had to reboot my comp and now iTunes is pointing to the copy on my hard drive (not pointing to the external). When I right click a song in iTunes and get info, The songs I kept on my hard drive/downloaded music says Macintosh HD/user/ect..for a location. The other that I do not have a digital copy for still say Mybook/tunes (the folder on the external).
so, the question is how do I have the location of all my songs be the external drive?

    Thanks so much.

I'd probably delete all the data from the current iTunes library - note, select keep the existing files!
Then do File > Add files/folder to library and select the external drive.

You may have to re-create any playlists again though.

Sorry I'm not of an alternative - unless you could set the default location for audio files in preferences.

I'd imagine so, unless anyone else can shed some light.
