As some of the long-time members here at MG may know, occasionally I like to post a list of malware/virus files that I recently removed from a PC. Attached below is a list of such files. You'll notice they are all strings of 8 random characters and are all .EXE files. I removed these manually by booting to a PECD and slowly scrolling thru the SYSTEM32 folder. I have lots of experience removing malware, so I'm comfortable removing infections this way, but it is NOT a recommended way of malware removal. This is no way considered a guide of any type, and I'm just posting this here to expand knowledge and as a bit of a novelty. Again- DO NOT scroll through your system32 folder and start deleting files. Your chances are doing some serious damage are pretty high....

Anyway... the list is attached below as a JPEG. All the files listed were created within 48 hours of each other which made picking 'em out a bit easier.

It's also interesting that each file has the same pattern: after starting with a consonant, every other letter is a vowel.... strange, no?

I knew random 8 letters with no google hits indicated malware but I never noticed that the first two characters were a consonant followed by a vowel in a repeating pattern. I'm not sure it is always that way but I'll start noting. Thanks.
