XPsp2. Earthlink/Sprint/Embarq dsl with Motive Smart Bridge alert at bootup saying...Procedure Entry Point Get Process Image File Name W could not be located in psapi.dll I checked the Smart Bridge log and found matching boot alert events described as... Failed To Create Browser Control. The psapi.dll's are there. Relative process appears to be SprintDSLAlert.exe Functionality in IE7 and Sprint and Motive applications and displays appear fine. What I want to do is kill that alert at bootup. Sprint/Motive may have conflict with the new 7 that needs a fix via update from them. What say you Geeks?

    Okay, try:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/ie/releasenotes/default.aspx

Or, go to the program files directory, and into the program that is having the issue.

Change the psapi.dll to psapiold.dll. Then see if your program works.

By doing this, it will force the program to use the \windows\system32 version, instead of the older version found under \program files\...

I'll hazard the guess that the psapi.dll file is an unexpected version, or suffers corruption.

The properties of the file should have a 'Version' tab. You might try googling for an updated version.

We can also profile the dll using Dependency Walker to see what other dlls, activex objects, etc. it calls, and what functions it expects to be there. I would look for:

something similar to this. If this is a function that is expected to be in the profiled dll or any of its child applications, it should be highlighted in red.

Thanks guys...before I read your posts I uninstalled Sprint Virtual Assistant...a troubleshooting and change settings application for Sprint/Earthlink dsl customers. Upon bootup, no more Motive Smart Bridge alert. I had planned to reinstall Virtual Assistant, then discovered the bootup alert was gone. Don't really need Virtual Assistant except as a handy connection troubleshooting tool etc. I may reinstall it to see if the bootup alert returns. Plus I'm keeping your recommendations in mind as well. Now if I can just figure out why the MG home page advertisements no longer appear.

I'd double check that you have flash 9 installed for IE7.

Already have Flash 9 installed prior to installing IE7. All my other websites display ads and banners as they did before.

Hey, I am new here. I was having the problem with the SmartBridge Alert upon rebooting my computer. I did a Yahoo search and found your forum.
The message I was getting read...SmartBridge Alerts: MotiveSB.exe Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point Get Process Image File Name W could not be
located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL

I did what you suggested and changed the file name from psapi.dll to psapiold.dll. That worked for me. That message does not show up anymore when I reboot. Thanks. :) Will changing the file name mess up anything? My SBC self help tool still doesn't work, but is that a big deal, should I worry about that?

I was one of the first to post this issue. Theefool gave the best overall fix. I found I really didn't need the dsl connection troubleshoot tool as I seldom if ever encountered a problem. But I know if I install it again, renaming that file will prevent the startup alert...unless my isp does its own IE7 compatibilty fix. You might consider a reinstall of the connection tool unless done so already.

@ tritonobx: Do ye still have issues displaying the adds at MG?

I fixed that by unchecking Tribalfusion in SpywareBlasters restricted sites list. That and doubleclick.net are the only ad sites I allow when web surfing.
