Another Realtek sound problem

After building my new system

(Abit XI38 Quad GT, Dual core 2.66)

First I had sound in games and I could run the loopy music demo but no sound in MP3's & Movies

In device manager the HD audio driver had the yellow !

So i tried to reinstal the drivers and encountered the install error

I then followed the instruction on this site and successfuly installed the drivers

but now I have no sound :confused :cry

all the volume contols are there and are on. none muted. the lead is still conected

and I have uninstalled reinstalled all that malarky

To be honest I wish I knew how to get back to sound in games and none anywhere else then at leat I could play WoW & crysis some more!!

 

I decided to reinstall XP and start again

This time all is well. I think the problem last time was I installed SP2 after installing all the drivers. Schoolboy error perhaps?

The beauty of having a dedicated windows HD it makes this sort of thing easy. Installing windows is bad for my health though becuase when watching that bar creep accross the screen I smoke far too much
